Czechoslovak Chamber Orchestra Prague


The Czechoslovak Chamber Orchestra Prague was founded in 1957 by Dr. Otokar Stejskal at the famous Prague Conservatory. After his death (1991), his spouse Eva Lustigova, has led the orchestra for a few years. Since the beginning of 1998, the orchestras musical director is a pupil of Dr. O. Stejskal, violinist Jan Mracek, who assumed all artistic responsibility.

The reputation and worldwide recognition of the ensemble began with F. Liszt medal award in Weimar and its sweeping success at the Salzburg festival in 1964. Since then it has been touring almost all the countries of 4 continents - Europe, South and North America, Africa and Asia. The ensemble has been a regular guest on many music festivals such as the Prague Spring, Bregenzer Festspiele, Choriner Sommer, Festival Estival de Paris, Besancon, Bordeaux, Pablo Casals Prades, Santander, Brussels, Mexico, Santa Fe etc. The orchestra has made a number of radio, television and CD recordings and has worked with famous soloists including H. Baumann, P. Tortelier, W. Wilkomirska, J. Ogdon, A. Marion, S. Gazzeloni, R. Lupu, P. Vigneron, from czech soloists V. Hudecek, J. Bouskova, K. Englichova , J. Barta, E. Prochac, M. Kejmar, J. Petras.
